This Grand Designs for tiny home enthusiasts continues with George Clarke meeting Paul, who is restoring a Victorian circus wagon. This week: an obstreperous professor has been poisoned, but hasn’t consumed any food or drink in which the arsenic could have been placed. This unlikely tale of a cargo ship running aground in the Outer Hebrides, bequeathing its 50,000 cases of whisky to the grateful islanders, is based on a real wartime incident. In Alexander Mackendrick’s hands it becomes a sublime Ealing comedy as the canny folk of Todday run rings round the Home Guard. Paul Howlett
